Overview
Four parties touch a PAYUP coin:
- The deployer creates the coin on pump.fun and locks its creator fees to the PAYUP treasury.
- Traders buy and sell. pump.fun charges a creator fee on each trade.
- PAYUP collects those fees, keeps the ledger and writes cheques.
- The recipient, the X account in the description, receives dollars. They do not sign up, connect a wallet or agree to anything.
Every number on this site comes from a Solana transaction or a ledger entry that points back to one.
Launching a coin
The launch form asks for a name, a ticker, an image and the X account to pay. Your Solana wallet signs twice:
- The coin. pump.fun's
create_v2, with an optional first buy. - The lock. pump.fun's fee sharing: a sharing config for the coin, then one update that makes the PAYUP treasury the only shareholder at 100%. pump.fun locks the config in that same update, so nobody can change the route afterwards, including you and us.
If the second signature fails or you close the tab, the form remembers the coin and offers to finish the lock. Network costs for both run about 0.03 SOL, most of it rent for the sharing config.
Routing a coin you already launched
A coin whose fee sharing is not locked yet can still pay through PAYUP. On the Register tab, paste the mint, connect the wallet that administers its fee sharing, and sign one transaction. You can also do it on pump.fun yourself: add the treasury as the only recipient at 100% and save.

A coin whose fee sharing is already locked to someone else cannot pay through PAYUP. pump.fun allows one update per config.
Naming the recipient
We read the recipient from the coin's description. Put this line in it:
Fees to @handle via PAYUP
The launch form adds it for you. If the line is missing we take the first @handle in the description, then the X link in the coin's metadata. The fixed line removes any doubt when a description mentions several accounts, so use it.
The whole description, fee lines included, has to fit in 256 characters. Registration reads the description; it cannot change it.
The split
| Share | Goes to |
|---|---|
| 80% | The named X account, in dollars |
| 20% | Buying $PAYUP on the open market and burning it |
| 0 to 10% | Optional deployer reward, taken out of the 80% and fixed at launch |
A deployer reward shows up as a second line in the description, Deployer reward: 5% to @handle. We apply the split to each claim when it lands and never recalculate it. There is no other fee.
Claims
Creator fees collect in a vault that pump.fun keeps per coin. Our keeper checks each PAYUP coin and, once its vault holds 0.01 SOL or more, calls pump.fun's distribution, which pays the treasury directly. Smaller balances wait, because a distribution would cost more than it moves. Anyone can call the distribution; whoever does, the indexer finds the transfer in the treasury's history and books it.
Each claim is keyed by its transaction signature and priced in dollars at the SOL rate of that moment. A failed transaction books nothing and gets retried; the fees stay in the vault until then.
Cheques and milestones
A handle gets a cheque when its lifetime earnings cross $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, and every $1,000 after. Each cheque carries the whole unpaid balance at that moment.
X Money caps what one account can receive from us in a rolling 24 hours at $750. When a balance is larger, the cheque goes out at $750, carries a note saying the limit was reached, and the rest follows once the window frees up.
X Money
We pay through X Money from a dollar balance we keep funded. Claims arrive in SOL; we sell them on an exchange and move the dollars by bank transfer. The money flow page logs each of those steps.
X Money has no public API for sending, so an operator sends each cheque from the PAYUP account and records the transfer reference. X Money is open to US residents aged 18 or over; X decides who can receive.
Cheques nobody accepts
If a handle has no X Money account yet, the payment waits in X as a claimable transfer, usually for 14 days. Accept it in time and it is yours. If it expires, the money comes back and splits in half: 50% to the protocol treasury, 50% to the $PAYUP buyback. The ledger shows every split.
Public confirmation
When a cheque clears, @usepayup replies to the recipient with the amount and the coin it came from. Most recipients never asked to be paid, so the reply is how they and their followers learn where the money came from.
$PAYUP
$PAYUP absorbs the protocol's 20% and half of any expired or declined money. It gates nothing: holding it does not change the split, who can launch or who gets paid. $PAYUP's own creator fees stay with the protocol and skip the 80/20 split. The contract is not live yet; see the $PAYUP page.
Stopping payments
Turn off incoming payments in X Money, or ask us through the opt-out page. Once we confirm you control the handle, it goes on the do-not-pay list within 7 days, its coins disappear from the site, and the launch form refuses it. Its balance and future fees split 50/50 between the treasury and the burn.
When a coin does not show up
- Fee sharing is not locked. A config that still lists the creator, or is waiting for its one update, does not count yet.
- The treasury is not the only shareholder. PAYUP needs 100% of the creator fees.
- The indexer has not passed yet. It runs on a schedule. The Register tab registers a locked coin on the spot.
- The named handle opted out. Its coins stay off the site.
